New Challenge for ALL!

Beginning this month, October, each month we will be challenged through our education ministry to commit published scriptures to memory. Often passages will relate to lessons Brad plans to preach or other things taking place in our church. It is good to read scripture but committing it to memory makes it accessible when we need it in life. Each passage will grow in value to us as we hide it in our heart. Families are encouraged to work on memorizing and studying the monthly scripture together. October’s is below.

For October:

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:1-4 NIV)

This passage frames for us the famous verses about Jesus not grasping His position in heaven but emptying Himself to live among us. He showed the extent to which He calls us to adopt the interests and well-being of others above our own.

Let’s challenge each other to memorize, study, and implement this together!
