May’s Scripture!
And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” (Mark 8:29 ESV)
And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:34-36 ESV)
The whole good news of Jesus for your life hinges on the answers to two questions.
Who do YOU say Jesus is?
What will you do with that?
It matters so much because it gives shape to your life and eternity. I believe with all my heart that Jesus came to earth, lived, died, and was raised for you. But it really only matters what you believe and whether you allow your belief to transform you. Will you believe who Jesus is? And will you base your life on that belief? We sing, “Jesus, you’re my firm foundation…” Does your living bear that out?
