Brad Schrum has recovered to the point that he was able to return to work last Monday.  Kevin Kalany continues to do very well in his recovery from mononucleosis.  Curtis Blake was admitted to Liza’s Place last Tuesday. They believe the cancer has spread to his brain.

Tom Russell, Greg Nestor’s grandfather, is slowly improving in EORH from his recent stroke. Elmer LaRue, one of our former shepherds, remains in serious condition in a Georgia hospital. Steve Hickenbottom, one of our former members, was to undergo a heart catheterization last Thursday in Columbus.   Billie Howell, the sister of Barbara Bowman (one of our former members), has pancreatic cancer.

Please continue to encourage those for whom we have been praying for awhile ….Marge Bailey  (Greg Vickers’ mother), Louis Bain (Kate’s husband), Evelyn Barker, Hunter Bearup, Michael Coiner (Dot Nice’s nephew), Craig Herwick, Faith Hilton (Bunky Loy’s granddaughter), Nancy Hudson, Joelle Jones, Janice Kranek, (former co-worker of Donna Noling and Paula Farber, cancer), Clara Main (Joyce Orzolek’s sister), Charlotte Mason (Mae Deller’s daughter), Donna Morris (friend of Bunky Loy), Vera Perry, Ray & Dana Ramsay, Edie Roberts, Peg Spielvogel, Kaylin Stafford (friend of Kay Sowinski, brain tumor) Lauren Symanek (Wayne Patton’s niece), Alexis Thornberry, Gregg Voscavitch and Jill Zatezalo.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to Ernie Hickenbottom and his family in Sally’s death. She died last Tuesday in Hilliard.   She will certainly be missed by all those of us who knew and loved her for so long.

Today at 4:30, all the shepherds, deacons and preachers will meet in the MP Room to pray for and to discuss the Lord’s work being done by our church family.

Our new fall classes will begin Sunday, Sept. 4.  It will also be “Promotion Sunday” which will be the day all those who are supposed to move up to another class will do so. The fall classes for Wednesday evening will begin Sept. 7.

In this coming Wednesday’s Summer Adult Series, Mike Vilano will lead the class in a discussion of the topic “Go Boldly…Regardless”  using Acts 28:26 as the basis of the study.

All of the teens are invited to the Gooches’ this coming Thursday for the final scheduled Devo of the summer (7-9 p.m.).

The summer has gone by so quickly and we are already beginning to see several of our youth leaving for college and technical schools.  So we can stay in touch with them this year, please give their name and college address to Joyce Slatt and we will publish them in a near-future bulletin.

Everett & Judy are going to be out of town next weekend and, in his absence, Brad will present both the morning and evening lessons.

Again this year we have the opportunity to assist with the support of the children who live at Potter Children’s Home in Bowling Green, KY, by collecting our loose change in Gleaner Cans.  If you would like to help, you can take a can from the table in the foyer and begin saving your coins today. The cans are due back by Nov. 13.

We have been invited again to lead the worship service at the Belmont County Fair on Sunday, Sept. 11.  Brad and several others have accepted the invitation and will be there that Sunday morning.

Even the best of parents face times when children disappoint them. How parents react to the troubles their children cause can affect a child’s destiny. How does a faithful parent deal with an unfaithful child? In next week’s lesson, “When Children Fall,” Phil Sanders will help answer that question.  The program can be seen locally every Sunday at 7:30 a.m. on WTRF-TV, ch. 7.
