PRAYER CONCERNS

Harry Schrum is undergoing physical therapy at Cumberland Pointe.  Edie Roberts remains at home recovering from hernia surgery. Peg Spielvogel is  doing well in her recovery from the installation of the device to relieve the pain in her back.  Brian Games is struggling with various adjustments related to his stroke. Clyde Carpenter was scheduled to undergo a procedure last Friday to shock his heart back into rhythm.

Ernie DeBertand, a friend of several of our members, has recently been diagnosed with cancer.  Deborah Lodge, Amber Hope’s stepmother, is weakening in her battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease and is now under continuous Hospice Care.

Our prayers are still needed for Louis Bain (Kate’s husband), Evelyn Barker, Holly Bine (Pat Rice’s brother), Charles Boger, Joe &  Tamara Davis (Clyde Carpenter’s niece and her husband), Bonnie Holmes (mother of one of Jason Baker’s co-workers), Kevin Kalany, Dave Koonce (Kay Sowinski’s uncle),  Bill Kopyar, Vera Perry, Paul Moore (Brenda Sponhaltz’s brother-in-law), Dan McMillan, Adam Shanks  (friend of the Voscavitches) and Rita Yontz, Jim’s mother.

IN THE MILITARY

Those serving in the military need our prayerful support….Nathan Rodak (Jay & Rhonda’s son) and  Joey Stenger (Joe & Karen’s son).

OUR EXPECTANT MOTHERS

Our prayers continue for our expectant mothers…Amy Higgins (a boy, due anytime) and Lindsay McKeen (a girl in July).

SYMPATHY

We extend our deepest sympathy to Joe Santini, Heather’s husband, in the April 26th death of his grandmother, Margaret Santini.  Her funeral was last Sunday.

Our genuine sympathy is extended to Philip Dunfee, Karen’s husband, in last Tuesday’s death of his mother, Grace Dunfee. Her funeral was Friday in Jacobsburg.

SUNSHINE BASKET

We want to encourage Charles Boger with a Sunshine Basket.  If you would like to include any personal items, please place them in the basket in the foyer by Sunday, May 20.

BABY SHOWER & MONTHLY FELLOWSHIP

Everyone is invited to return this evening for our worship service and to remain afterwards for the Baby Shower for Lindsay McKeen and for the Fellowship honoring those with Birthdays or Wedding Anniversaries in May.  Lindsay is registered at Toys R Us, Babies R Us and Target. Care Group C will be in charge of the Shower and Care Group A will be in charge of the Fellowship.

NEWLYWEDS

We rejoice with Mike & Joyce Slatt on the marriage of their son, Michael, to Lisa Tedrow on April 28.

SLIDES OF ISRAEL

During today’s evening worship service, Bill Rodak will be showing some slides of Israel which they took on their recent trip.  They will help enrich our understanding of the Bible.

GRADUATES

High School Graduates, if you have not given Joyce one of your Graduation Announcements and Senior Pictures, don’t forget to bring them this evening so we can begin preparations for honoring you on Sunday morning, May 27.  This year’s High School Seniors from our church family are … From Union Local,  Ashley Farber, Ashley Gaston, Dustin McMillan and Tyler Pinkston. From St.C.,  Alex Cannon, Melanie Hannan and Emily Vickers. If you are aware of any others of our church family who are graduating from high school this spring, please let Joyce know.

If you would like to host one of the Thursday devos this summer for our youth, please sign the list on the bulletin board.

EDUCATIONAL MINISTRY

The Summer Quarter for our Bible Classes will begin on June 3.  If you are  willing to help with this important ministry, please sign the list on the hallway bulletin board across from Brad’s office.   Several openings still need to be filled.  You can also contact Angel Baker or Sally McDiffitt for more information.  We appreciate all of our Bible Class volunteers.

MINISTRY OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Teams 2,3&5 will lead our ministry of encouragement for the next two weeks.

ELMER PARSONS RETREAT

May 18-20 are the dates for this year’s Annual Elmer Parsons Retreat for those in Grades 7-College Age at Tomlinson Run State Park.  Brad Schrum is the keynote speaker for the weekend.  (Contact Brad for more details.)

ITEMS FOR POTTER CHILDREN’S HOME

Next Sunday evening is the deadline for bringing the requested items for Potter Children’s Home…French Dressing, Bottled Water and Soft-Scrub.  They also need cash donations to help with the purchase of perishable foods. Please place the items on the table in the hallway across from Everett’s office and give any money to Everett.

LADIES’ INSPIRATION DAY

All of the ladies are invited to the Annual Ladies’ Inspiration Day sponsored by the Wheeling congregation this coming Saturday, May 12.  Brenda McCleary who worships with us on Wednesday evenings will be the keynote speaker.

“A Prisoner To Sin,” is the topic of next week’s lesson. The program can be seen locally every Sunday at 7:30 a.m. on WTRF-TV, ch. 7.
